Since 2022, about 1.4 million children have been displaced following Islamic extremism in northern Nigeria. Their communities were attacked and they had to escape for safety. They were often attacked by armed militants that forcefully take children and strong me as recruits to work for them.
The group also raid public schools and kidnapped girls, and then forced to marry their militants.
ProCare has set out to change that story through a stable housing, trauma counseling, education, proper meal program and activities to give them better future.
ProCare’s goal is to adopt 32 orphans among the displaced children, and provide them with a vision of going back to help local communities if they want to, when they become adults.
WHO WE ARE
We are a charity registered in Illinois to raise awareness for war displaced communities in Nigeria.
Founded in 2023, we are a small group of volunteers currently developing into a team that networks with local communities around the US to stand with our vision of finding sustainable solutions for displaced children and young adults in Nigeria.
In Nigeria, our partners at www.procare-global.org manage projects on ground.

We publish stories of our orphans. This way you can relate to them and participate better.
2024 NIGERIA VISIT
In February 2024, Emma Harrington, Michael Harrington and Samuel Stephen visited the orphanage in Nigeria for 3 weeks. The orphans were happy to receive them and made good impression by being in their best behavior!
Emma and Michael also volunteered in the elementary school next to the orphanage, ran by friends there.
The new house parents, Salama and Clementina could meet the sponsors of ProCare for the first time. Some concerns about the security of the place were addressed such as a security room with CCTV, and additional 3,000 water tank installed and plumbed into the orphanage. Another practical aspect of security is a session held by Emma to introduced routes in the events of bad guy coming to attack them, when the siren is sound by the security personnel.
The time spent in Nigeria although short, it was impactful with the developments brought. Staff members on ground in Nigeria were encouraged by the quality of time.
Emma and Michael had the opportunity to help at the school the children attend. They also got to play with them during school breaks and had fund with all of them.
Back at the orphanage, most of the children are meeting westerners for the first time. They couldn’t wait to see them everyday as they play the game of puzzle and other exciting games brought from the US.
Within a period of 3 years since the orphanage was built, the children have found a place to call home. As you read their stories below, remember that they brought significant amount of trauma. They hardly have a meal per day, but now they enjoy 3 meals and snacks everyday.
